Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how OrisPrivate ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use it on Google TV devices. In short: we do not collect, sell or share your personal data. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising SDKs and no servers of its own.
1. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. The app does not send your browsing activity, searches, passwords, device identifiers or usage statistics to us or to any analytics or advertising provider.
2. Information stored on your device
To work as a browser, the app saves some information only on your device. It is never uploaded to us:
- History of the pages you visit (you can turn history off in Settings).
- Bookmarks and the sites you pin to the home screen.
- Site icons (favicons) of the sites you visit, to show them on the home screen.
- Settings, such as language, search engine, navigation mode and blocking options.
- Saved passwords, if you choose to save them (see section 4).
- Your PIN, if you set one, stored only as a salted cryptographic hash (see section 5).
- Cookies, cache and form data saved by the websites you visit, as in any web browser.
You can delete this information at any time from Settings → Clear browsing data, choosing what to delete and the time range (last 30 minutes, 24 hours, 7 days or all time). With Clear data on exit turned on, history, cookies, cache and site data are deleted every time you exit the app. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. The app opts out of Android cloud backup, so this data is not copied to your Google account.
3. Tracker, ad and pop-up blocking
Tracker and ad blocking use lists included in the app and run entirely on your device. Requests to known tracking and advertising domains are blocked before they are made. No information about the pages you visit is sent anywhere to decide what to block.
4. Saved passwords
When you sign in to a website over a secure (HTTPS) connection, the app may offer to save your username and password. They are saved only if you accept. Saved passwords are encrypted on your device with a key kept in the Android Keystore, are only filled in on the same website where they were saved, and are never sent to us or to anyone else. Passwords are never saved or filled in from incognito tabs. You can review and delete saved passwords, or turn the feature off, in Settings.
5. PIN lock
If you set a PIN, the app asks for it before showing your history, your private tabs or your saved passwords. The PIN itself is not stored: only a salted hash of it is kept on your device, to check the PIN you enter. If you forget your PIN, you can remove it only by deleting the information it protects (history, saved passwords and private tabs).
6. Incognito tabs
Pages opened in incognito tabs are not saved to history. Their cookies, cache and site data are kept apart from your normal browsing and are deleted when you close the incognito tabs. Incognito mode does not hide your activity from the websites you visit, your network provider or your employer.
7. Websites and search engines
When you visit a website, your device connects directly to that website, which receives the information any browser sends (such as your IP address, the page requested and the browser type) and may use cookies or similar technologies. When you search, your query is sent to the search engine you selected (DuckDuckGo, Google, Bing, Brave Search, Ecosia or Startpage). These websites and search engines are governed by their own privacy policies, not by this one.
8. Voice search
If you use voice search, the app asks your device's voice recognition service (for example, the Google speech service built into Google TV) to convert your speech into text. The app does not record or store audio and does not request microphone permission itself. Voice processing is handled by that service under its own privacy policy.
9. Third-party components
Web pages are displayed by Android System WebView, a component provided and updated by Google as part of your device. Its handling of data, such as Safe Browsing checks, is governed by Google's privacy policy. The app is distributed through Google Play, which processes your purchase and may collect information as described in Google's privacy policy.
10. Permissions
- Internet access and network state: to load web pages; the web engine uses the network state to know whether the device is online.
The app also checks whether a few other apps from the same developer are installed, only to show "Open" instead of "Get" in the "More apps" section. This check happens on your device and nothing is sent anywhere.
11. Security
Saved passwords are encrypted with a key from the Android Keystore, and the PIN is stored only as a salted hash, with a waiting time after several wrong attempts. The app supports an HTTPS-only mode that upgrades connections to HTTPS and warns you before opening a page over an unencrypted connection. Web content cannot access files stored on your device.
12. Children
The app is a general-purpose web browser and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children; in fact, we do not collect personal information from anyone.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
